Cai-Bei is an ancient form of Chinese massage that is little known in the West. Here, the massage therapist uses her toes, heels and balls of the feet to open up the musculature of your back, legs and shoulders, releasing tension stored around your spinal cord. This form of massage therapy treatment provides you with deep relief and is especially recommended for people who are fatigued from over-stress or physical exertion, as in sports.

On the origin of the technique Cai_Bei several references can be found in the Chinese histories to a 10 volume work entitled Huangdi Qipo Anmo, which was supposedly the earliest Chinese medical text devoted entirely to the practice of anmo. The original is unfortunately lost, but quotes from the text can be found in other books. These include a reference to «cai bei» or massage using the feet, stepping on the recipient’s back. In combination with heated topical agents, this treatment was reportedly used to resuscitate unconscious patients.

Cai Bei is an energetic massage technique, producing an ideal therapeutic bodily workout for people with a solid body structure. It helps to release tension and muscle contracture – producing an immediate sensation of relief and well-being and is especially therapeutic for people who are fatigued from high-stress or extended physical exertion, such as from sports.

It is a perfect technique to be combined with other traditional massage therapies such as Chinese Tui-Na deep tissue or Thai massage, for enhanced results.

The back-walking massage applies deep but soothing pressure to your back to “feed” the muscles, releases toxins and stimulates the body’s self-healing capabilities. It combines centrifugal and centripetal push with pull movements therefore creating a structural change to chronic soft tissue damage, while providing complete relaxation to our clients.
Cai Bei soothes and eases the back then opens channels which are energy pathways throughout the body. It is to relieve pain and stress, treat spinal problems, and provide an incredibly deep pressure on the muscles, all while still being gentle. You can also expect better posture as it helps elongate the spine, improved body movement and functions, as well as a general state of well-being.
